Job Details
PURPOSE

The Senior Human Resources Specialist supports and enhances HR services and operations within Dell Medical School by maintaining and analyzing business and workforce processes and metrics. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, academic structures, and the unique workforce dynamics present in a medical environment. The position ensures process and operational between college and department-level transactions, while also providing strategic HR support and guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
HCM Data, Transactions & Reporting
  • Develops and maintains accurate employee and workforce data within the Human Capital Management System (HCM), including processing employee transactions in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Creates, maintains, audits, and distributes workforce reports for internal, institutional, and external purposes to support decision-making, problem identification, and business case development.
  • Reviews HCM databases and reporting outputs to ensure data integrity and adherence to internal controls.
  • Gathers, compiles, and validates workforce data for third-party surveys and other reporting requirements.
HR Operations, Policies & Process Improvement
  • Develops, reviews, revises, and implements HR policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and administrative processes.
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of HR functions, programs, and procedures to evaluate effectiveness, identify issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Monitors HR and administrative management programs and recommends solutions to operational or process challenges.
  • Adheres to established internal controls and reporting structures.
HR Consultation, Employee & Management Support
  • Serves as a resource to employees and management regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and training.
  • Provides advice and counsel to employees and management on HR issues, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Coaches, develops, and consults with employees, team members, and management.
  • Supports talent-related activities, including making recommendations regarding the selection of job candidates.
Communications, Change Management & Organizational Support
  • Develops and coordinates employee communications, including intranet content, information guides, and other HR materials.
  • Supports organizational change initiatives by developing goals and strategies, communicating change objectives, and serving as a change agent.
  • Facilitates meetings, events, and other activities supporting HR programs and organizational initiatives.
Projects, Leadership & Professional Development
  • Participates on project teams and completes special projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to HR colleagues and supports the professional development of team members.
  • Maintains required continuing education and skills competencies while supporting departmental and organizational goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field
  • At least 3 year(s) of experience in performing business analysis and reporting in human resources in a hospital, health system, academic medical center, or health-related institution.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Human Resources or payroll experience at UT Austin and familiarity with policies, procedures, and University systems.
  • Experience with Workday data entry related to hiring, terminations, leaves, transfer, or promotions. Experience working in a start-up environment. Experience in a fast-paced HR office.
SALARY RANGE

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
