Job summary

The National Academies is seeking a Workforce Analytics Leader to transform workforce and organizational data into strategic insights for executive decision‑making. You will partner with HR leadership and cross‑functional teams to develop analytics informing recruiting, retention, compensation, planning, and diversity metrics.

Responsibilities include designing analytics solutions, leading dashboards and data pipelines, and guiding data governance and literacy initiatives while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of workforce analytics, HR metrics, and HR data management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in BI and data visualization platforms (Tableau and/or Power BI) and data management (PoolParty).
  • Experience with HRIS/ERP/ATS and related systems.

Job description

Serves as the organization’s subject matter expert in workforce analytics and human capital data, transforming workforce, operational, financial, economic, and organizational data into strategic insights that support executive decision‑making. Partners with HR leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders to develop analytics that inform recruiting, retention, compensation, workforce planning, succession planning, employee demographics, organizational effectiveness, facilities management, space utilization, and other strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain workforce analytics solutions, including dashboards, reporting platforms, data models, and automated reporting processes.
  • Perform advanced data extraction, preparation, modeling, statistical analysis, forecasting, and visualization to address complex business challenges.
  • Conduct workforce analyses supporting talent management, workforce planning, recruiting, compensation, retention, succession planning, diversity metrics, organizational effectiveness, facilities management, and space utilization.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities; develop actionable recommendations and partner with leadership to establish workforce metrics, KPIs, and reporting priorities.
  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain dashboards and BI solutions that communicate workforce insights to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Lead dashboard releases, data pipelines, system testing, usability improvements, and performance optimization.
  • Lead recurring and ad hoc workforce reporting (e.g., turnover, demographics, recruiting, succession planning) and executive‑level reporting needs.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to HR leadership, identify analytical requirements, and advise stakeholders on interpretation and application of workforce metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Business Data Analytics on data management, governance, and technical support for dashboard creators.
  • Lead analytics initiatives from planning through implementation, documenting methodologies, processes, and standards.
  • Develop and deliver training resources, mentor colleagues, and promote analytics adoption and data literacy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.
Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of workforce analytics, HR metrics, and HR data management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in business intelligence and data visualization platforms such as Tableau and/or Power BI, and data management platforms such as PoolParty.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel; experience with HRIS, ERP, ATS, and related workforce systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience analyzing workforce data related to recruiting, retention, compensation, demographics, employee engagement, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data validation, and data integrity practices.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority; lead cross‑functional initiatives and build consensus.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to data accuracy.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Six years of related professional experience in workforce analytics, HR analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or data analysis, including experience developing complex queries, performing advanced data analysis, and building dashboards and visualizations.
Licenses / Certifications

None required.

Work Environment

Hybrid office/telecommute environment; expected onsite percentage 60%. Occasional travel to National Academies facilities and off‑site locations. Ability to work in multiple time zones as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated range: $92,040 – $126,550. Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, paid holidays, transportation subsidies, and education assistance.
