Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in human factors engineering.
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years in medical device industry (Class II/III).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of human factors, usability engineering, and user-centered design.
  • Research Methods: Proficient in usability testing, contextual inquiry, surveys, and interviews.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiar with FDA guidance, IEC 62366, ISO 14971.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Cross-functional: Able to work independently and in fast-paced environments.
  • Travel: ~25%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute human factors activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Conduct user research including contextual inquiry and usability testing.
  • Develop user profiles, task analyses, use scenarios, and use-related risk analyses.
  • Translate research findings into design requirements and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, and Clinical Affairs to integrate human factors considerations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on UI, workflow, and usability.
  • Contribute to human factors plans, reports, and regulatory documentation (FDA/IEC 62366).
  • Mentor junior human factors engineers and promote user-centered design culture.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
