Goddard Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Human Factor Engineer with 5+ years in medical product development.

You will contribute to design, usability testing, documentation, and launch of client products, collaborating with a diverse team to deliver safe, user-friendly solutions across software, hardware, and fluidics. You will implement HF research methods, support regulatory filings, and ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14971, AAMI/ANSI HE75, and related standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of human factors/usability engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and drive safe, easy-to-use products with low burden of care.
• Support HF/usability requirements for new products and extensions.
• Represent HF/usability on core project teams.
• Apply HF research methods (task analysis, usability studies, etc.) and inform design decisions.
• Analyze data to inform design and risk analyses, providing heuristic guidance.
• Contribute to UI design considerations across software and hardware interfaces and prototype testing.
• Support regulatory documentation including risk analyses and HF reports.

The Role:

• TheSenior Human Factor Engineerwill haveroughly 5-10years of experience in product development of medical products. This role will play a key part in the design, development, use testing, documentation, and launch of Goddard’s clients’ products. You will take part in human factors & usability engineering activities for new product development programs and contribute to usability improvements for current products, collaborating with a diverse team of product development specialists and working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Goddard products integrate mechanical, electrical, software, and fluidic elements, and industrial design to deliver thoughtful, elegant product solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a patient / customer advocate in helping Goddard realize its vision for delivering game-changing products that are safe & effective, easy to use, not prone to use error, and provide user satisfaction; ultimately supporting Goddard’s goal of extremely low burden of care
• Support product management and product engineering personnel inestablishingergonomic, human factors (HF), and usability-related requirements for new products and product line extensions
• Represent the human factors/usability engineering function on core teams for small tolarge sizedprojects
• Implement a variety of HFE research methods, such as task analysis, PCA, time/motion study, user preference studies, ethnographic research, heuristic analysis, root cause analysis, post-market dataanalysisand usability testing
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and risk analyses and contribute to user interface designs byprovidingheuristic design guidance, ideas, and feedback to project teams
• Be flexible with a range of product interfaces from software GUIs, hardware/fluid connectors to workstations, and inform/support creation of necessary prototypes for testing these with users (Figma, AdobexD, Sketch, Axure, paper prototypes, model making, SolidWorks CAD, Microsoft and Google products etc.)
• Create and leverageURRAs,uFMEAsand/or UEAsto inform design; collaborating with systems engineering inidentifyingintended users and use environments, as well as potential use-related hazards;determineproduct use cases andidentifycritical user tasks,errorsand design mitigations
• Support documentation review and development, including but not limited to risk analyses, user/environment profiles, task analyses, use specifications and human factors engineering reports to support regulatory filings
• Have a working knowledge of the implementation of all relevant HF & usability-related standards and guidance documents (ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14971, AAMI/ANSI HE75, ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366, IEC 60601, FDA, etc.)
• Travelas-needed(valid driver’s license and vehiclerequired)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of human factors/usability engineering experience. Prior consulting experience preferred
• Experience working in the medical device industryrequiredand adhering to the latest regulatory standards andindustrybest practices
• Strong communicator, creativethinkerand team player with the ability to collaborate with both internal and external parties
• Flexible to take onadditionalresponsibilities to support an agile and growing team
• Advocate for the patient/customer, and passionate about the value of human factors/usability in the medical device industry
• Abilityto embrace uncertainty, energized by tackling challenges head-on, and enjoy having the opportunity to learn something new every day (be it a new product,tool,technology,methodologyor standards)

The pay range for this role is:

115,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Wilmington Office)
