About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling - keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Senior Human Resource Business Partner

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner is a highly experienced, strategic HR leader who partners with senior leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, workforce performance, and sustainable business outcomes. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and judgment, applying advanced HR expertise, deep business acumen, and cross-functional insight to address complex people and organizational challenges.

The Senior HRBP works on issues requiring in-depth analysis, evaluation of variable factors, and the application and adaptation of advanced HR concepts and practices. The role serves as a trusted advisor, frequently guiding leaders and peers on complex matters, influencing outcomes through credibility and persuasion, and contributing to the evolution of Redwood’s people frameworks during periods of growth and transformation.

Success in this role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment, with three+ days onsite presence based on business needs.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Partner with leaders to align people strategy with organizational objectives, operational priorities, and growth plans.
  • Advise leaders on complex workforce, organizational design, talent, and performance matters, applying advanced judgment and strategic insight.
  • Translate business needs into HR solutions that are creative, practical, and scalable in a dynamic environment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on complex employee relations matters, guiding leaders through sensitive issues with sound judgment and risk awareness.
  • Apply deep knowledge of employment practices, policies, and laws to resolve issues proactively and effectively.
  • Influence outcomes through persuasion and credibility, balancing employee experience with business needs.
  • Advise leaders on talent strategies, leadership effectiveness, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Coach leaders on navigating complex people situations and developing high-performing, engaged teams.
  • Guide managers in applying HR principles consistently while adapting approaches to unique business contexts.
  • Understand and leverage relationships between different disciplines to deliver integrated, business-aligned HR solutions.
  • Represent HR perspectives effectively in cross-functional and senior-level discussions.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources or a related field, with 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including advanced HR Business Partner roles in complex organizations.
  • Deep, demonstrated expertise in HR principles, employment practices, employee relations, and organizational development.
  • Proven ability to evaluate complex situations, synthesize data, and exercise sound judgment across multiple variables and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, developing new approaches, and solving problems where precedent or direction may be limited.
  • Highly credible advisor to leaders at all levels, with strong communication and persuasive skills that connect HR strategies to broader business objectives.
  • Operates with independence, accountability, and resilience, demonstrating maturity, discretion, and sound judgment in high- stakes or sensitive matters.
  • Business-oriented, pragmatic, and solutions-focused, thriving in fast-paced, growth-oriented, and technically complex environments while building scalable people practices aligned with Redwood’s mission and values.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
