Shield AI is seeking an HMI Designer to develop next‑generation Ground Control Station interfaces for unmanned aerial systems. You will bridge responsive UI with robust backend data, enabling operators to plan, command, and monitor autonomous assets with precision and safety.

The role requires 5+ years of HMI/UX design in aerospace or defense, expert Figma skills, and strong human factors knowledge. A security clearance is preferred, with a comprehensive compensation package including bonus and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

Engage in end-to-end design of HMI systems for UAV ground control station displays
Translate complex system requirements into usable interfaces
Develop wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma
Collaborate with engineers, pilots/operators, software developers, and human factors experts
Apply human factors engineering to optimize usability and workload
Design for real-time data visualization including telemetry, navigation, and sensor fusion
Conduct usability testing, simulations, and design validation
Maintain a design system and component library in Figma
Help establish best practices in HMI/UX design
Ability to obtain a S//SAR clearance desired.
