Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group, an employee-owned EPCm firm, is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer – Physical Design to lead high-voltage substation projects from concept to constructible packages. You will coordinate across disciplines, mentor engineers, and ensure all design packages meet quality and safety standards.

You will oversee general arrangement drawings, grounding layouts, conduit routing, and equipment placement while collaborating with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in substation engineering, power delivery, or electrical design.
• Advanced knowledge of substation physical design, grounding, conduit & cable routing, and constructible drawing development.
• Ability to lead engineering tasks or project scopes and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead the physical design and execution of high-voltage substation projects.
• Develop and oversee deliverables: general arrangement drawings, elevations, grounding layouts, conduit systems, and equipment placement.
• Direct grounding design, bus arrangements, and equipment layouts for project scopes.
• Apply engineering principles and standards to produce high-quality design packages.
• Coordinate with protection, civil, structural teams and vendors for cohesive execution.
• Review deliverables for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Support planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress reporting while ensuring safety and quality.
