Job summary

City of Palm Bay seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator I to operate heavy machinery on road, drainage and utility projects. You will perform site prep, grading, and maintenance tasks with a focus on safety and quality.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida Class A CDL with endorsements, plus a good driving record and ability to work flexible hours including weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3 years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment.
• Valid Florida Unrestricted Class A CDL with endorsements and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including grader, excavator, dozer, trackhoe, and vacuum/jetter for road, drainage, and utility projects.
• Perform routine maintenance, document work, and ensure site safety.
• Assist in training others and support road repair, culvert installation, and pipe laying tasks.
