Job summary

Orange County Utilities' Water Reclamation Division is seeking an Equipment Operator IV to operate and maintain heavy construction machinery, ensuring safe and precise performance on excavation, grading, and material transport tasks.

The role requires 4+ years of experience, a valid Florida driver’s license, and may require a Florida CDL Class A. Crane certification and sign-on incentives are noted in benefits and postings.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience operating medium to heavy automotive, construction or maintenance equipment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Depending on assignment area, possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License; or obtain within six (6) months of hire.
• Preference: Crane certification.
• Preference: Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A.

Responsibilities

• Operate complex heavy equipment such as tankers, front-end loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, wheel loaders and cranes.
• Perform or supervise loading and unloading heavy equipment.
• May supervise assigned Equipment Operators or work crew on a project basis.
• Operate equipment to dig ditches or canals and load materials.
• Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance of equipment.
• Coordinate utility line locations before excavating and ensure work aligns with engineering specs.
