Baltimore County is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic II in Towson to perform diagnostic repair and maintenance on diesel and gasoline powered trucks weighing one ton or more, as well as heavy construction equipment.

Under general supervision, you will overhaul engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, and you will lead and train less skilled workers to ensure safe, durable, and compliant operation of county machinery.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience in automotive repair and maintenance.
• Two years in heavy truck and heavy construction equipment engines and special components, including diesel, track, and hydraulic equipment.
• Related training may substitute on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.

Responsabilités

• Repairs, rebuilds, and maintains diesel and gasoline powered trucks weighing one ton or more and heavy construction equipment.
• Overhauls and repairs gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, and brakes.
• Repairs and replaces damaged body parts.
• Repairs electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Installs, repairs, maintains aerial ladders, pumps, warning devices, and other specialized equipment on fire and medical emergency vehicles.
• Leads and instructs lesser skilled workers.
