Job summary

Burrtec-Waste-Industries in Santa Clarita, CA, is hiring a Senior Heavy Duty Mechanic for the Santa Clarita Hauling Division to keep our fleet operating efficiently with major and minor engine repairs, preventive maintenance, and field service. We offer a $3,000 hiring bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Require at least 5 years of heavy‑duty diesel/gasoline repair experience, a valid CA driver license, and ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience with heavy-duty diesel and gasoline truck repair.
• Must be able to diagnose, repair and maintain heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical systems including computerized components.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories.
• Respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.
• Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines.
• Remove and replace transmissions and brakes.
• Repair, mount and dismount tires.
• Repair and replace hydraulic hoses.
• Remove and replace breaks
• Prepares and maintains records and reports.
• Must follow all safety procedures and policies.

We are looking for Senior Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Santa Clarita Hauling Division

SALARY RANGE: $38.15 - $39.15

+ $3000.00 Hiring Bonus *

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories
• Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
• Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures.
• Working knowledge of:
  • Mechanical design and fabrication.
  • Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
• Skill in:
  • Use of power and hand tools.
  • Use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Acetylene and electric arc welding.
  • Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
• Ability to:
  • Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field.
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair.
• Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record, required

PHYSICAL:

• Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs.
• Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, wind.
• Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust.
• Will be exposed to working on slippery conditions and cramped positions.
• Work is performed around, vibrations, moving objects, noise, dirt, dust, chemicals, fuels including diesel, gasoline, and various natural gases.
