Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Estimator with heavy civil estimating expertise to join our Greater Philadelphia team. The role focuses on developing comprehensive cost estimates for earthwork, utilities, and roadway projects, with a emphasis on cost accuracy and timely delivery.

The successful candidate will analyze drawings, specifications, and bids, coordinating with clients and vendors to finalize estimates and support project planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Proficient in cost analysis and HCSS experience.
• Proven experience in preparing and analyzing bids for heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of the construction process, including materials, labor, and equipment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects (earthwork, utilities, roadway).
• Analyze blueprints, specs, and proposals to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Conduct studies to establish standard hours and costs.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and foremen to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Maintain records of estimated vs. actual costs.
• Review material and labor requirements to optimize make/buy decisions.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements for project duration.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• Maintain directory of suppliers and subcontractors.
