Job summary

Calqulate Metrics Ltd. seeks a Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil to lead accurate, competitive bids for complex infrastructure projects in Southern California. The role demands hands-on estimation for a self-performing heavy civil contractor with utilities, earthwork, grading, asphalt, and concrete expertise.

The candidate will develop crew-based production estimates, rate labor/equipment/material costs, review bid documents, and guide subcontractor pricing. Riverside region travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Experience estimating for a self-performing heavy civil contractor.
• Strong knowledge of utilities, earthwork, grading, asphalt and concrete.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil projects.
• Review plans, specs, geotechnical reports, contracts, addenda to determine scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for self-performed and subcontracted scopes.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect costs.
• Lead estimating for self-performed work including utilities, earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and railroad.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to validate approach and schedules.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Mentor junior estimators and maintain supplier relationships.
