Job summary

Summit Midstream Partners, Lp is seeking a Safety Specialist to assist with the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies. You will serve as a safety resource and SME for your assigned geographical area of responsibility.

You will analyze HSE data, prepare manuals, coordinate audits and inspections, lead incident investigations, and support training for operations personnel.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent degree.
• Or 8 years oil and gas operations experience with involvement in H&S programs.
• Familiarity with PSM and RMP regulations is a plus.
• Ability to interact effectively with field and office personnel, governmental agencies, third party operators, and contractors.
• Strong communication and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and Company policies.
• Serve as a Safety resource and subject matter expert to assigned geographical area of responsibility.
• Analyze, summarize, and report all necessary H&S data.
• Prepare, implement, and review H&S manuals, programs, procedures, and standards.
• Provide updates and recommendations to management on program and procedure implementation.
• Maintain a daily field presence by supporting Operations, conducting inspections and training, and verifying a safe work environment in addition to other assigned tasks.
• Coordinate internal audits and agency inspections.
• Lead, or assist with, formal and informal incident investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Develop and implement effective corrective actions to resolve issues and eliminate hazards.
• Support the development and implementation of JHAs for both routine and non-routine Operations & Maintenance tasks.
• Develop and/or implement departmental goals and initiatives.
• Manage, mentor, and develop less experienced Safety Specialists.
• Conduct interactive monthly safety meetings.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Summit Midstream Corporation (NYSE: SMC) is a value-driven corporation focused on developing, owning and operating midstream energy infrastructure assets that are strategically located in unconventional resource basins, primarily shale formations, in the continental United States.

We currently operate natural gas, crude oil and produced water gathering systems in four unconventional resource basins:

• the Williston Basin in North Dakota, which includes the Bakken and Three Forks shale formations;

SMC has an equity investment in and operates Double E Pipeline, LLC, which is natural gas transmission infrastructure that provides transportation service from multiple receipt points in the Delaware Basin to various delivery points in and around the Waha Hub in Texas. We generate a substantial majority of our revenue under primarily long-term and fee-based gathering agreements with our customers. The majority of our gathering agreements are underpinned by areas of mutual interest ("AMIs") and minimum volume commitments ("MVCs"). Our AMIs provide that any production drilled by our customers within the AMIs will be shipped on our gathering systems. The MVCs are designed to ensure that we will generate a minimum amount of gathering revenue over the life of each respective gathering agreement. The fee-based nature of the majority of the gathering agreements enhances the stability of our cash flows and limits our direct commodity price exposure. Since our formation in 2009, our management team has established a track record of executing this strategy through the acquisition and subsequent development of DFW Midstream, Grand River, Polar & Divide, Niobrara G&P, and Double E Pipeline.

Education & Experience

• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with field and office employees, governmental agencies, third party operators, and contractors
• A high level of technical knowledge is required, including the ability to be innovative and creative while utilizing technical resources to address compliance issues
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to company and insurers
• Successful completion and passing of company drug screen, background check and respirator fit test
• Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Must have high level of initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal oversight
• Must have ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and plan daily work activities
• Must have ability and willingness to work with a team, take directions from supervisor(s), follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Available to travel within the Niobrara-DJ Basin (CO) assets on a regular basis, up to 50%, based on business needs
• Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects
• Able to bend and stoop for filing; ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Able to view compute terminal for long periods of time; Manual dexterity for operating computer and office equipment;
• Able to walk for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs and work in remote locations with exposure to varying weather conditions
