Job summary

The State of California, Health Quality Enforcement Section (HQE), seeks a Legal Analyst to perform high-level, analytical legal work in administrative, state and federal courts. Under the supervision of the Supervising Deputy Attorney General and the Senior Assistant Attorney General, HQE staff manage cases, draft pleadings, and handle disciplinary actions for health care providers.

Successful candidates will assist in judicial reviews, civil litigation matters, and require strong writing,

Qualifications

• Experience drafting administrative pleadings and preparing for administrative hearings.
• Ability to independently organize and manage a large number of tasks related to administrative actions.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to work under timelines.

Responsibilities

• Open and close cases in ProLaw and assist in case management.
• Draft correspondence and legal pleadings.
• Assist in interviews and litigation tasks.
• Analyze, extract, and process complex documents for statistical record keeping in compliance with Business and Professions Code §312.2.
• Provide paralegal assistance in judicial review proceedings and state/federal civil litigation matters.
