Job summary

Surgo Health is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Advisor (Fixed Term Contractor) to raise public visibility of maternal health and youth mental health research. You will lead earned media and social engagement, translating complex findings into accessible stories for journalists, policymakers, and the public.

You will work with researchers and strategy leads to turn data into media-ready content, coordinate events, and support funder communications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of communications experience with earned media and social media.
• Proven success securing press coverage and relationships with health reporters.
• Able to translate dense research into shareable public content.
• Strong writing and editing for clear, compelling narratives.
• Experience drafting press releases, pitches, and talking points.
• Comfortable with evidenced-based, sourced data.
• Genuine interest in maternal health and youth mental health.
• Independent collaboration with researchers across teams.

Responsibilities

• Craft public-facing findings from research reports.
• Lead campaigns for Youth Thriving Framework and score launches.
• Develop annual comms strategy aligned to releases.
• Own social media planning for maternal and youth mental health.
• Coordinate events, conferences and speaker slots.
• Drive proactive earned media and media pitches.
• Maintain editorial consistency across channels.
• Prepare funder and partner communications materials.
