Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to join the research infrastructure team focused on powering health research technologies used by millions daily. You will build and maintain scalable infrastructure across sites, enabling research data processing at scale and supporting next-generation AI applications.

The role emphasizes collaboration, system design, and the ability to influence technical direction within a fast-paced environment, spanning multiple Google sites and projects worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with Apache Beam.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience working with Healthcare AI.

Responsibilities

• Design infrastructure for scalable usage of collected research data, adding functionality and features needed by research teams.
• Investigate new ML tools and agent platforms to be supported by the infrastructure team, designing APIs or standard processing necessary to use those tools while meeting compliance requirements.
• Build state-of-the-art data processing pipelines that power research usage for people and their agents.
• Identify points of researcher friction and remove red tape.
• Improve and maintain our infrastructure for smooth operation and minimal toil.
