Job summary

Western Digital is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with at least five years of experience to design, develop, and validate mechanical components for HDD products. This role focuses on head-disk assemblies, actuators, base castings, and enclosures, with emphasis on precision and reliability.

You will work with CAD tools, perform FEA, and collaborate with firmware, media, and servo teams to ensure system integration and quality. A BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering and HDD domain knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with proven HDD design experience.
• Experience delivering precision mechanical components for head-disk assemblies.
• Familiarity with HDI and aerodynamics is preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T and CAD tools for tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Design precision mechanical components for HDD systems and assemblies.
• Use GD&T to communicate part variation and meet requirements.
• Perform FEA and modal analysis for reliability and resonance avoidance.
• Develop test fixtures and validation protocols; support cross-functional teams.
