Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer to lead reliability for new robotic devices. You will identify risks in electrical and mechanical systems, define robust test methodologies, and perform reliability predictions across products in development and in the field.

The role requires hands-on experimental work, experience with robotics reliability, and strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration. Domestic/international travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

In this role, as a Sr. Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability engineering of our new and emerging robotic devices.

The Role:

• Identify and validate product risks, including but not limited to electrical system, mechanical system, and work with design teams to mitigate them
• Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability
• Provide hands-on experimental design and execution
• Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field

Experience and Skills:

• Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
• Experience in Robotics, including reliability of motors, sensors, and high power electronics
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and 7+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
• Experience with hardware reliability testing such as vibration & shock testing, fatigue testing, electrical stress testing, ESD testing, and thermal stress testing
• Experience in data analytics, statistical analysis. Able to perform DFMEA, reliability analysis such as lifetime analysis, acceleration factor studies, reliability modeling and reliability allocation
• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
• Experience with failure analysis techniques: Electrical debug, Cross sectioning, dye and pry and microscope
• Knowledge of the following fields: Consumer, Industrial, and Automotive Electronics, and Building Standards
• This position will require some domestic and international travel
• Experienced communication skills in writing and presenting
