Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems seeks a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to design and develop ruggedized electrical components and subsystems for processing and interface products. You will review hardware and software requirements and test plans for high-speed interfacing, and lead projects with budget and cross-functional teams.

You will collaborate on system architecture analyses and participate in engineering reviews, ensuring MIL-1275/ MIL-461 standards compliance while maintaining

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 12+ years of applicable experience in hardware design and integration.
  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for ruggedized processing and interface products.
  • Review and develop hardware and software requirement documents and test plans for high-speed interfacing and processing.
  • Lead projects with budget/manpower and coordinate with outside groups and customers.
  • Support system architecture analysis, trade studies, and participate in engineering reviews.

Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer

Design and Develop Electrical Components and Subsystems for ruggedized Processing and Interface Products

Detailed knowledge
  • Design Engineering Process
  • Generating requirements and the design of computing processors and FPGA's, and their supporting and interface circuits
  • Review and develop Hardware and Software requirement documents and test plans for High-Speed Interfacing and Processing, Video, Target Detection, and MOSA, SOSA, GCIA, TSN
  • Digital and Analog circuit design, component selection, procurement, schematic capture, PWB layout, prototype builds, development, test, debug, qualification, release, production
  • Power and thermal analysis
  • EMI/EMC, High Speed Signal Integrity design practices
  • Military design and test requirements including MIL-1275, MIL-461, MIL-464, MIL-810
  • Six Sigma design tools including DFMEA and Reliability Analysis
Practical Knowledge Desired
  • Microprocessor based products and Single Board Form Factors: Intel, AMD, ARM, VPX, VME, COM Express.
  • Embedded Microcontroller H/W and programming skills (C, C++, Visual Studio)
  • Industry standard interfaces and products (PCle, DDRxx, USB, SATA, RS422/485, MIL-1553, Ethernet, CAN, RS422/485, Solid State Drives)
  • Graphics/video interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort, HD-SDI, RS-170, LVDS)
  • FPGA Design and Simulation (Xilinx Toolsets)
  • Support system architecture analysis, trade studies, and participate in associated engineering reviews
Proven ability
  • Leading projects including budget/manpower and interactions with outside groups and customers
  • Strong record keeping skills with commitment to tracking design changes, debug status, Hardware and Software revisions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer or Computer Engineering.
  • 12+ years' applicable experience required.
  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
Desired Additions
  • This position requires eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance
  • Previous experience working on ground combat Vehicles desired
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
