Amentum is seeking a skilled Gunsmith III to design, fabricate, modify, repair, and service firearms and accessories. Responsibilities include building prototypes from drawings, supervising arms-room operations, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive items.

The role requires formal gunsmithing training, four years of US military small arms repair experience, and eligibility for security clearance. Travel may be required, with a strong emphasis on manuals, documentation, and team collaboration.

Competenze

• Must obtain and maintain facility credentials; US Citizenship required.
• Formal one- to two-year in-house gunsmithing course or equivalent experience.
• Four years of US military small arms repair experience, crew-served weapons, in a recent armor role.
• Valid MOS/GSA/OEM certifications for required weapons preferred.
• Familiar with US military Technical Manuals.
• Must obtain licenses/certifications as needed.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to complete paperwork required for the position.
• Excellent written communications skills.
• Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications.
• Detail oriented with ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must pass and maintain a security clearance.
• Position may require travel.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Mansioni

• Design and construct prototype small arms from drawings or customer input.
• Design computer prototypes from customer input and understand ballistics.
• Build custom pistols and rifles with supervision where needed.
• Direct day-to-day weapons maintenance operations of the Arms Room.
• Inspect and store weapons with proper documentation in AWRDS.
• Plan, prioritize and execute weapon repair missions as directed.
• Service and repair US military firearms IAW TM’s and document services.
• Direct packing operations for outbound shipments as directed by Logistics.
• Maintain inventory and stock records for material and equipment.
• Ensure weapons are properly received, tagged and secured.
• Coordinate with government officials on ranges, mounts, optics, and prototypes.
