Job summary

ITASCA North America is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeler to support groundwater, mine water, and environmental projects across the U.S. and North America.

The role focuses on advanced groundwater flow modeling, conceptual hydrogeology, and practical consulting, with mentoring responsibilities and cross-disciplinary collaboration. You will lead modeling activities, review technical work, and contribute to software development and client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental engineering, or related field.
• Approximately 10–20 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven record of technical excellence in groundwater flow modeling.
• Strong experience developing, calibrating, applying, and interpreting numerical groundwater models.
• Experience with conceptual hydrogeologic models and data interpretation.
• Ability to evaluate model assumptions, calibration, uncertainty, and limitations.
• Experience supervising and mentoring others.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to support proposals and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate, apply, and review numerical groundwater flow models for mining and environmental projects.
• Support modeling related to mine dewatering, depressurization, and water management.
• Interpret conceptual hydrogeologic models using field data and project constraints.
• Evaluate model assumptions, calibration, uncertainty, and implications for decisions.
• Prepare technical reports, model documentation, and presentations.
• Mentor junior staff in modeling methods and communication.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, data scientists, and software developers.
• Contribute to modeling workflows and training materials.
