Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Ground Software Engineer I to shape the end-to-end architecture of spacecraft ground software. You will collaborate with flight software, mission operations, and systems engineers to deliver scalable, reliable ground systems across Space Systems missions.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor's in engineering, and US citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record architecting web-based software at scale.
• Strong systems-level thinking balancing performance, security and maintainability.
• U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.

Responsibilities

• Own major parts of architecture and evolve Rocket Lab's web-based ground software platforms.
• Collaborate with flight software, operations and systems engineers to translate needs into scalable designs.
• Deploy, configure and optimize the Rocket Lab Ground Data System for diverse missions.
• Establish robust monitoring, alerting and reliability frameworks.
• Provide architectural guidance to ensure resilience and long-term maintainability.
• Advise leadership on ground software strategy and emerging technologies.
