Varda Space Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mission Software Engineer to own the ground segment software and the platform enabling spacecraft operations.

You will work across telemetry, command, data distribution, and mission control interfaces with real-time, high-reliability requirements. Responsibilities include building telemetry ingestion services, operator dashboards, and automation tools for flight software simulations and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software.
• 5+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software.
• Experience with Python and strong understanding of language concepts.
• Strong systems fundamentals: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code.
• End-to-end observability: logging, metrics, tracing.
• Docker/Kubernetes; release management and phased rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services: Develop and maintain high-reliability telemetry ingestion, distribution, and commanding.
• Mission Control Interfaces: Deliver operator-grade UIs and dashboards to optimize ops time.
• Simulation and Test Automation: Build tools for flight software simulations and test automation.
• Build the Mission Platform: Design, implement, and productionize software with CI/CD, IaC, and observability.
• Deployments Across Environments: Create deployment patterns with safe rollout/rollback and air-gapped deployment.
