Job summary

The University of Texas at San Antonio is seeking a Senior Grant Development Manager to lead the development and management of highly competitive extramural funding applications and recognitions. The role identifies funding opportunities, provides editing and writing support, and coordinates proposal teams to secure support for a department, college, or research unit.

This on‑campus position requires strategic consultation with PIs, strong grantsmanship mentoring, and effective collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five (5) years of related work experience.
  • This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts market intelligence and identifies and disseminates funding opportunities that align with the University’s strengths, faculty expertise, and specific research agendas.
  • Engages in strategic consultations with PI/PDs and teams to include solicitation analysis, feedback on strategy, identifying collaborators or areas for collaboration, early budget conceptualization, and prior submission review analysis and response.
  • Consults with PI/PDs and collaborators to translate early ideas and concepts into competitive narratives for extramural funding, including advising on funding sources as well as strategies for meeting technical and broader impact or dissemination requirements.
  • Provides critical and editorial review of grant and other applications for extramural funding or scholarly awards/recognitions.
  • Collaborates with PI/PD and sponsored projects staff, manages proposal development process for interdisciplinary teams, including facilitating team meetings, establishing timelines, and assisting with document collection.
  • Maintains institutional/unit data, writes and maintains templates/boilerplate text, and other support documentation for proposal development activities.
  • Provides targeted support and grantsmanship mentoring for new investigators or investigators pursuing new directions/lines of funding.
  • Engages with internal and external partners to develop research collaborations and serves as a liaison to sponsor organizations.
  • Supports nominations to highly prestigious awards and manages or supports the limited submissions program.
  • Conducts training sessions on grantsmanship topics relevant to the research community.
