Job summary

Whitman-Walker Health seeks a Senior Manager of Grants and Contracts to lead financial oversight of federal, local, foundation, and contract-funded awards. You will direct grant accounting, compliance, revenue recognition, and post-award activities, reporting to the Director and guiding a team of accounting professionals.

The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution, ensuring audit readiness, Single Audit compliance, and robust internal controls across the grant lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Minimum 5 years of grant accounting experience with federal awards.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience managing Single Audits and SEFA schedules.

Responsibilities

• Lead grant accounting team and consultants; set priorities and performance standards.
• Oversee grant invoicing, reporting, budgets, reallocations and month/yr‑to‑date analyses.
• Ensure expenditures reconcile with general ledger and supporting records; maintain audit readiness.
• Review and approve federal reports, FFRs, cash reports and sponsor submissions.
• Drive continuous improvement of grants administration, policies, and procedures.
• Develop dashboards and management reports for grant performance and compliance.
