Job summary

United Way of Central Alabama is seeking a Senior Grant Accountant to oversee grant financial operations, reporting, and compliance, supporting older adult programs across Central Alabama.

The role involves managing general accounting, preparing journal entries, processing invoices, and coordinating with subcontractors and the Community Initiatives department to ensure accurate financial statements and timely fund requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business required.
• Accounting or Finance degree preferred, or related experience with federal grants.
• Two years’ experience in accounting required, preferably with state or federal grants.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders in Microix and track them.
• Process grant invoices.
• Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries; record meal journal entries as provided by State.
• Contact subcontractors to request financial information.
• Process monthly and quarterly reports; run financial reports; prepare Requests for Funds; assist with financial statements.
• Assist with budget preparation and grant closing procedures; communicate with Community Initiatives department.
