Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. seeks an experienced Grading and Earthwork Estimator to review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and prepare competitive bids for commercial, residential, municipal and civil projects.

The role requires strong knowledge of mass grading, fine grading, soil conditions, equipment production, and underground utilities, plus the ability to identify risks and cost-saving opportunities. You will collaborate with project teams, subs, suppliers, and clients to drive estimating accuracy

Qualifications

• Experience estimating grading, earthwork, site development, or heavy civil projects.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, grading, and utility plans and reports.
• Proficient in digital quantity takeoffs and cut-and-fill calculations.
• Knowledge of equipment production, labor, and material costs.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, geotechnical reports, addenda, and bid documents.
• Perform earthwork quantities and cut-and-fill calculations.
• Estimate costs for sitework including drainage, utilities, and paving.
• Evaluate soil conditions, haul routes, disposal requirements, and material availability.
• Determine equipment, labor, and production rates for bids.
• Prepare complete bid proposals, scope sheets, clarifications, and alternates.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subs, vendors, and suppliers.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess access and risks.
• Maintain historical pricing and estimating records; support change orders.
