Job summary

Twenty-Six Defense Maritime is seeking a General Counsel to support the Maritime and Warfighter business units and serve as the company’s primary Government Contracts counsel. The role covers FAR/DFARS topics, bid strategy, licensing, data rights, and related disputes.

The position reports to the CEO with dotted-line to the VP & General Counsel of Twenty-Six Defense. The successful candidate will manage Contracts and Government Compliance functions, advise executives on contracts and business

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School.
• Active membership in at least one state bar.
• Licensed to practice law in the United States.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• 12 years of experience as outside Government Contracts counsel or in-house counsel in the aerospace/defense industry.
• Experience advising executive clients on contracts and business strategy.
• Experience providing counseling on U.S. Government programs, including FAR/DFARS and related supplements.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance to Maritime and Warfighter business units and lead Government Contracts risk mitigation.
• Review solicitations and strategies for responding, including data rights and licensing sections.
• Advise on bid protests and coordinate outside counsel when needed.
• Assist Contracts with complex terms such as liability, indemnification and termination.
• Develop IP protection strategies and negotiate related agreements.
• Strategize and negotiate teaming relationships and dispute resolution steps.
• Maintain current knowledge on Government contracting topics, including FAR/DFARS and settlements.
