Job summary

Bayer Crop Science seeks a Senior Golang Engineer to join an engineering team focused on scalable data platforms and services. You will design and build data-intensive RESTful APIs, lead architecture discussions, and mentor engineers across teams.

Preferred candidates have 8+ years in software or data engineering, strong Go skills, Kafka expertise, and cloud/Kubernetes experience, enabling enterprise-scale solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, backend development, or data engineering.
• Strong hands-on Go (Golang) development in production.
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Extensive experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and large-scale data modeling.
• Knowledge of unit testing, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions for large datasets.
• Build high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services using Go.
• Develop distributed data processing systems and streaming solutions with Kafka.
• Lead architecture and technical design discussions for enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Build, deploy, and manage containerized apps using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Create data models for large-scale relational and NoSQL databases.
• Promote best practices: code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and TDD.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
• Collaborate with product managers, scientists, analysts, and stakeholders.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend tools and architectures.
