Job summary

Zone 5 Technologies seeks an experienced GNC Engineer V/VI to lead flight controls design and optimization for Group 1–4 UAS. You will drive high-fidelity simulations, develop advanced Matlab/Simulink models, and mentor engineers across disciplines.

Responsibilities include software architecture for flight tests, stability analyses, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals. Senior leadership with a focus on R&D and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in flight controls engineering, with 5+ years in UAS.
• Expertise in Matlab/Simulink and auto-code generation for embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of control theory, flight dynamics, and Kalman filtering.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of flight controls for Group 1–4 UAS.
• Architect and implement software components for flight tests.
• Oversee high-fidelity SWIL/HWIL simulations to validate performance.
• Develop advanced models in Matlab/Simulink for accuracy and speed.
• Perform stability and performance analyses for control optimization.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Lead R&D initiatives in flight control methods and auto-code generation.
• Produce thorough technical documentation and peer reviews.
