Job summary

Amazon Robotics in the greater Boston area seeks a Senior Global Commodity Manager for Silicon to lead supplier management for CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and other core components. You will align design roadmaps with supply base, drive sourcing strategies, and support new product introductions while achieving cost reductions.

You will partner with engineering and operations to scale manufacturing, maintain supplier scorecards, and travel ~25% to supplier sites to secure capacity and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high-volume, global manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of direct experience working with a global supply base of the relevant commodity.
  • Ability to review and understand engineering requirements and design documents for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts.
  • Experience developing, leading, and executing global supplier cost, risk, and lead time reduction strategies.
  • Demonstrated use of technical, analytical, and management skills to lead RFQs, supplier selection, supplier capacity planning, and supplier risk identification/mitigation in NPI programs.

Responsibilities

  • Managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability, capacity planning, contracting, analytics, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.
  • Collaborating with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements to ensure that sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost, and business objectives.
  • Developing efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.
  • Supporting the purchasing and planning teams by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply and/or quality issues.
  • Aligning supplier strategies to Robotics objectives for sustaining production and new product release.
  • Developing a commodity and supplier technology roadmap, aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Responsible for maintaining monthly supplier scorecards and conducting quarterly executive business reviews.
  • Periodic travel to supplier’s domestic and international manufacturing sites, approximately 25%.

The Amazon Robotics Supply Chain and Operations organization sources and manufactures a portfolio of robotics technology and is responsible for getting the right materials to the right place at the right time to support our network of global fulfillment and transportation solutions.

The Global Electronics Commodities Management team is seeking an experienced Sr. Global Commodity Manager for Silicon across the Amazon Robotics portfolio (CPU, GPU, FPGA, and other core components) with a background in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, supplier development, and executing sourcing decisions to support new product introduction and long-term commodity strategy. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-managed and a driven sourcing strategist, with experience in electronics industry, mapping and aligning design and technology roadmaps, experience in creating sourcing strategies, and business acumen to support engineering teams to develop latest technologies through strong vendor base, without capacity constrain, while achieving cost reduction goals.

The Sr. Global Commodity Manager has an important role in ensuring their respective commodity and suppliers meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to scale its internal Manufacturing Operations, while ensuring optimized Quality, Supply Chain efficiency, and Hardware Engineering alignment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Experience designing, implementing, and scaling workforce development programs across large-scale operations, including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions
  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations across leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Experience using analytical tools for workforce metrics and reporting
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Electricasl Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
