Job summary

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team in Jackson, MS, or Baton Rouge, LA.

This hands‑on role will own key general ledger and month‑end activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and ASO postings within our ERP system. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, take ownership, and resolve discrepancies, with preference for Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision in a project‑based environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting with general ledger responsibilities.
• Experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience preparing and posting journal entries and performing month‑end close.
• Strong Excel skills with data analysis, lookups and pivots.
• ERP experience and project-based accounting familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger accounts and ensure accurate, timely entries.
• Perform month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
• Review A/P transactions for proper GL coding and posting.
• Support audits and provide reconciliation schedules and documentation.
• Collaborate with AP, AR, Payroll, and Project Accounting teams.
