Job summary

First Division Consulting, Inc in Charleston, SC seeks an experienced DevOps/Software Engineer to lead GitOps and CI/CD modernization for DCGS-N deployments, including secure release practices for afloat and ashore nodes.

Candidates should have 7+ years in software engineering or related fields, an active DoD clearance (Secret/TS), and hands-on experience with Linux, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and policy‑driven configuration management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/IT or related field with 7+ years in software engineering or DevOps.
• Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility and DoD 8140 IAT II qualification.
• 3+ years hands-on GitOps/DevSecOps/CI/CD engineering.
• Ability to design automation solutions and secure release processes.
• Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Argo CD/Flux, Terraform, Helm/Kustomize and Linux.
• Experience with Git-based CM, ISO/disk image creation, software packaging, cryptographic verification and SBOM tooling.
• Knowledge of Navy/DoD CM, cybersecurity and software release controls.

Responsibilities

• Design and sustain GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Argo CD/Flux, Terraform, Helm and Kustomize solutions; automate build, test, security checks, packaging and deployment.
• Translate Navy CM requirements, including MIL-HDBK-61A, into policy-as-code guardrails for baseline integrity, approvals and traceability.
• Lead migration from legacy CM platforms to Git-based workflows while preserving authoritative configuration history.
• Govern gold-disk/ISO mastering, OCI container artifacts and air-gapped release tarballs for controlled DCGS-N deployments.
• Implement cryptographic signing (Cosign/Sigstore), SBOM generation (Syft) and vulnerability assessment (Grype).
• Establish documented software media custody, transfer, receipt and verification procedures for afloat and ashore nodes.
• Collaborate with NIWC Atlantic engineering, cybersecurity and CM stakeholders for secure, auditable releases.
• Work with DoD stakeholders to ensure compliant configuration management and release controls.
• Leverage Linux expertise to support secure, scalable containerized deployments.
