Job summary

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of enterprise GIS architecture across cloud, hybrid, and traditional environments.
• Design scalable, secure cloud architectures for enterprise GIS workloads.
• Help modernize platforms and migrate applications, databases, and infrastructure to the cloud.
• Develop architecture approaches covering compute, networking, storage, databases, identity, security, integration, availability, and disaster recovery.
• Identify architectural risks and single points of failure; propose reliability improvements.
• Evaluate VM, container, and cloud-native deployment options.
• Provide deep technical guidance through solution design.
• Architect environments for enterprise GIS applications, services, databases, and integrations.
• Translate business and technical requirements into high-level architectures and designs.
• Guide sizing, configuration, performance tuning, scalability, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Support containerized and Kubernetes environments where appropriate.
• Design architectures capable of supporting demanding workloads, including GPU-enabled use cases.
• Turn customer challenges into deliverable solutions.
• Partner with sales and consulting teams to develop technical approaches for new opportunities.
• Review customer requirements and procurement to identify viable cloud solutions.
• Contribute architecture, scope, effort estimates, schedules, and technical content for proposals.
• Develop cloud consumption and budgetary estimates to help customers evaluate business cases and ROI.
• Advise on architecture choices for high availability, disaster recovery, multi-zone, and multi-region environments.
• Raise the quality and consistency of cloud architecture across the organization.
• Provide architecture guidance to engineering, implementation, quality, training, and managed-services teams.
• Establish practical patterns for cloud security, monitoring, automation, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Review technical deliverables and designs for quality and alignment with customer needs.
• Mentor colleagues developing expertise in cloud and GIS technologies.
