Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Charlotte, NC seeks a Geotechnical Senior Project Professional to lead geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing projects from proposal to closeout. You will ensure technical quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance while mentoring field staff and coordinating reports, budgets, and field operations.

This role requires 12+ years of experience, strong communication, and the ability to develop teams and drive business growth.

Qualifications

• 12 years of related experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
• Advanced project management and consulting skills.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles and applications.
• Strong working knowledge of construction materials testing and ASTM standards.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.
• Strong client relationship and business development skills.
• Ability to lead and develop teams.
• Understanding of project prioritization and consulting workflows.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages geotechnical and CMT projects from proposal through completion.
• Oversees preparation of technical reports, including analysis and recommendations.
• Ensures all project tasks from proposal to final invoice are completed accurately and on time.
• Manages project budgets, change orders, invoicing, and collections.
• Reviews field reports for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
• Hosts and participates in project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Provides technical solutions and recommendations during project execution.
• Supervises and mentors field staff, technicians, and junior professionals.
• Supports staff development and training.
• Prepares and reviews geotechnical and CMT proposals.
• Oversees field operations, including drilling and testing activities.
• Conducts geologic research and supports technical decision-making.
• Performs or delegates project tasks as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
