Job summary

Wood Rodgers, a leading engineering consulting firm, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead geotechnical initiatives in California. You will manage a broad portfolio including dams, levees, and transportation projects, while guiding a team of engineers and maintaining strong client relationships.

The role emphasizes senior technical leadership, project oversight, and training responsibilities within a collaborative culture. California PE is required; experience with PS&E and field programs is valued.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or Geology required.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering/Geology preferred.
• PE license in California required in addition to GE/CEG/PG;
• Ideally 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Experience managing projects and clients and directing staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships, including project and non-project related face-to-face meetings.
• Prepare scope and estimates in response to requests for proposals.
• Develop and execute services and analyses indicated in project scopes.
• Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies and standards.
• Provide work direction and training for engineering staff in exploration, sampling, laboratory testing, analysis, and report writing.
• Plan and execute field investigation programs.
• Prepare geotechnical documents, including reports and technical memorandums.
• Review of PS&E packages for compliance with the project’s geotechnical report requirements.
