Job summary

Certerra Insight Group is a consulting firm specializing in geotechnical and construction materials engineering. We seek a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our North Charleston, SC office to lead diverse projects and collaborate within a multidisciplinary design team.

The role requires a BS or MS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, 5–10+ years of experience, strong reporting and communication skills, and SC PE licensure.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is required/preferred.
• Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering or related field is desirable.
• 5-10+ years Geotechnical engineering experience.
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple projects and traveling to client facilities as needed.
• Strong report writing and computational skills.
• Experience using industry-standard geotechnical design and analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations: field exploration, laboratory testing, and analysis to determine soil and rock properties.
• Design foundations and earthworks: develop designs for foundations and retaining structures.
• Prepare technical reports: write detailed reports on findings, analyses, and recommendations.
• Provide technical support: assist in the design and construction of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• Project budgeting, scheduling, and invoicing.
• Project management: oversee geotechnical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with other engineers: work closely with civil, structural, and environmental engineers.
