Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead geotechnical projects within the Construction Materials Testing group in Fletcher, NC. You will mentor junior staff, manage complex geotechnical investigations, and deliver technically rigorous analyses for municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial clients.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across multiple projects in the southeastern

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus (Master's preferred).
• 6–8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Licensed PE in South Carolina or North Carolina, with ability to obtain licensure in additional southeastern states within six months.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Ability to travel up to 10% for site meetings, marketing, seminars, and client development in the SE United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert interpretation of analytical data for a wide variety of projects.
• Lead geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection; assign soils lab testing.
• Interpret site data to support project objectives and decisions.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is designed for a proven leader in geotechnical consulting who excels at managing complex projects, providing advanced technical expertise, and mentoring junior staff. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing excellence within our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) supporting Geotechnical Group. Your responsibilities will include serving our long‑term clients, expanding our current geotechnical capabilities, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, and cultivating enduring professional relationships. The role offers a favorable work‑life balance while providing opportunities to contribute to challenging and distinctive engineering projects. The Geotechnical Group focuses on projects for local municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial clients, ranging from geotechnical exploration to construction support.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus. Preferred to have a Master's degree.
• 6–8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or North Carolina, with the ability to obtain a license in additional southeastern states within six months.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for site meetings, marketing, technical seminars, regulatory seminars, engineering workshops, and client development within the southeastern United States.

• Strong knowledge of regulations (state and federal), subsurface geology, soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeology, and geotechnical site assessment.
