Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You will lead field investigations, geotechnical analyses, design development, inspections, and project execution from concept through completion, preparing and reviewing plans, specifications, technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety efforts for team and ensure adherence to safety rules and guidelines.
• Provide technical direction for production and completion of projects.
• Conceptualize initial design/investigative approach for major phases of projects.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work with conventional practices and complex features.
• Review projects requiring complex investigations and compile client reports; provide technical reviews.
• Lead training and contribute to marketing, sales and business development.
• Supervise junior engineers or technical staff on projects.
• Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Salary Range

$104,200.00 - $132,900.00 – Based on qualifications and experience

Provide expert engineering and consulting services for a wide range of clients and projects across public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial sectors. Lead and support field investigations, engineering analyses, design development, inspections, and project execution from concept through completion. Prepare and review plans, specifications, technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex design and construction challenges, evaluate field and laboratory data, and deliver innovative, practical solutions. Serve as a trusted technical resource, translating complex engineering concepts into clear recommendations for clients, stakeholders, and project teams while ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

• Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrating safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
• Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
• Responsible for providing consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
• Senior level engineering professional providing technical direction required for production and completion of both routine and unique or complex projects.
• Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design and/or investigative approach for a major phase of a large project or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a project of moderate scope.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinates engineering work involving conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
• Provide review of projects requiring complex and innovative investigation techniques and supervise the analysis and formulation of recommendations in written reports to clients; provides technical review of reports.
• Lead technical training and make informed decisions based upon state of the art technology issues.
• Provide leadership of marketing, sales and business development.
• Supervise less experienced engineers or technical support personnel on projects.
• Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status required.
