Job summary

Maynard Civil Engineering Recruitment is seeking a Senior Geologist for a major SEM tunnel project in New York. The role leads on-site geologists, tunnel inspectors, and site supervisors while ensuring alignment with design, quality, and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of SEM tunneling experience, strong hydrogeology expertise, and proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on large-scale international projects. Valid USA work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience on SEM tunnel construction projects.
• Experience on large-scale international tunnelling projects.
• Strong understanding of SEM construction methods, excavation techniques, ground support systems, and tunnelling equipment.
• Experience assessing geological and hydrogeological conditions in underground construction.
• Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary site teams.
• Proactive, solutions-focused with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the USA

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and coordinate on-site team including geologists, tunnel inspectors, and site supervisors.
• Oversee excavation and ground support works per specifications.
• Ensure construction activities align with design, specifications, quality and safety standards.
• Assess and interpret geological and hydrogeological conditions during excavation.
• Prepare and review project reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and final).
• Collaborate with construction management, designers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor progress and provide recommendations to optimize excavation methods and sequencing.
