Job summary

ECC is seeking a Senior Geologist to lead geological services for environmental remediation and hazardous waste projects. You will plan, perform, and oversee sampling, analysis, and reporting in compliance with company standards and regulatory criteria.

Responsibilities include leading teams, coordinating with PMs and stakeholders, and ensuring timely, budget-conscious deliverables. Travel up to 50% may be required; bachelor's degree in sciences is required, master’s preferred.

• Must be able to travel periodically, typically less than 50%.
• Experience with regulatory standards and environmental remediation projects beneficial.

Job description

ECC is seeking candidates for a Senior Geologist position. This senior level office and field position is primarily responsible for the planning, selecting, and leading the implementation of geological services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. In this position, you will:

• Under general guidance, manage and lead the preparation of geological sampling and analysis, and other environmental reports and plans,
• May act as a Lead and delegate/manage the work of others
• Recommend environmental solutions based on analysis of relevant data
• Determines the potential impact of regulations related to geological structural usage.
• Monitor project progress and report to client and Project Manager (PM)
• Consult and collaborate work with Project Manager, Superintendent, as well as Health and Safety, Quality Control, Project Controls, Estimating, and Contracts representatives to properly plan, coordinate and ensure progress of tasks, activities, and deliverables per the approved budget and schedule
• Plan, prepare, review, and issue project and field submittals within approved budget and schedule, including but not limited to chemical quality control plans, sampling and analysis plans, verification and validation reports, field test data and laboratory submittals, operation & maintenance reports, and closure reports
• Apply industry standards of practice for selected chemical or physical testing procedures, including adhering to regulatory codes and standards, national/ local standards, and company policies and SOPs
• Identify, address and communicate technical, operational and business risks relevant to the selected project approach and technology to the Project Manager
• Author RFQs and assist in procurement and selection of laboratory and analytical subcontractors, consultants and service providers to accomplish scope of work
• As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe field sampling or O&M activities, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances
• Ensure that appropriate and required testing is completed by qualified personnel using properly calibrated equipment
• Evaluate, review, monitor and document results and help make necessary decisions/ adjustments to procedures, as needed.
• Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner
• Investigate and recommend solutions in response to field changes, RFIs, and resolve fieldwork or construction issues related to quality, technology, installed equipment, operation
• In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position

Requirements

• Apply working knowledge of complex scientific and design principles and analytical tools
• Design/ apply environmental processes and remediation technologies to achieve project goals
• Select and apply appropriate Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, and FAR requirements
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend remedial alternative
• Lead system design & optimization
• Represent ECC as tech lead
• Identify scope, budget, schedule for project tasks
• Lead multi-disciplinary team in completing activities
• Communicate very well by written and verbal means and review work by others; requires strong leadership in dealing with complex unfamiliar scenarios
• Effectively manage multiple tasks and timelines
• Work well independently and as a team
• Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
• PE, PG, CQM, CQA, QEP, CHMM, PMP, or similar credential
• HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification/ 8 Hour Refresher
• USACE Contractor Quality Management for Contractors certification
• Eight years of progressively responsible experience with four years of field experience
• Travel: Must be able and willing to travel periodically, typically less than 50% depending on the needs of the company.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Life, Earth, or Natural Sciences. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

• Master’s degree in Life, Earth, or Natural Sciences
• Active membership/ participation in professional organizations
• Prior experience working with ECC preferred

The targeted base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 annually.

Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
