Job summary

CWA Recruiting is seeking a Senior General Liability / Labor Law Litigation Specialist in NYC to manage a specialized claims book from inception to closure. You will ensure reserves and expenses are controlled, and collaborate with defense counsel to keep cases prepared for trial.

You will support underwriting and loss control during account assessments and communicate with insureds and brokers as needed. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, six years’ experience with premises liability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; professional designations preferred.
• Minimum six years’ experience managing premises liability claims.
• Advanced understanding of NY Labor Law; labor law experience preferred.
• Experience with complex claims (wrongful death, mold, drownings, negligent security) required.
• Ability to manage defense counsel and develop defense tactics independently.
• Familiarity with ImageRight and Guidewire is advantageous.

Senior General Liability / Labor law Litigation Specialist

Description:

To manage a custom claims book along with other specific accounts from the beginning to the end. To ensure that accurate controls over reserves and expenses are established. To prioritize the prompt and just resolution of cases. To collaborate with defense counsel to ensure that all cases are adequately prepared for potential trial proceedings. To provide support to underwriting and loss control during account assessments. Communicate with insured parties and brokers as needed. Handle claims related to assigned special accounts from inception to closure, including those across multiple states. Review and confirm coverage for each claim, which involves a policy examination and aligning it with the claims made by the claimant. Issue timely coverage position letters. Conduct factual investigations independently or with assistance from investigators. Examine and assess various documents, such as contracts, leases, governing documents for condominiums and cooperatives, business records of the insured, public records, medical records, and scopes of property damage, among others. Set appropriate reserves in a timely manner; make decisions on fair and swift settlements. Negotiate settlement agreements. Adhere to all company and departmental procedures. Oversee defense counsel and monitor and review discovery processes. Maintain accurate and comprehensive file notes. Keep an up-to-date and relevant diary system.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include CPCU, AIC, SCLA, and other professional insurance designations. A minimum of six years of experience in managing premises liability claims is essential. An advanced understanding of NY Labor Law is required. It is preferred to have five years of experience with labor law claims. Experience in handling other intricate claims, such as wrongful death, mold incidents, drownings, and negligent security, is necessary. The ability to manage defense counsel and think autonomously is required. The candidate must be capable of developing defense tactics and strategies. Familiarity with ImageRight and Guidewire is considered advantageous.
