Job summary

Minnesota Cannabis Services in Edina, MN seeks an experienced senior attorney to own the legal and compliance function end to end. You will lead strategy, regulatory compliance, corporate structure, real estate and transactions, and risk management across the company and clients.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active bar membership; Minnesota admission or ability to obtain promptly.
• 8+ years in-house leadership with experience building or owning a legal/compliance function.
• Deep multi-state cannabis regulatory experience or in a comparably regulated industry.
• Hands-on drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts; disciplined regulatory records management.
• Experience supervising and developing junior staff.
• Multi-unit retail, real estate depth is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail, decisiveness, and high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Own legal strategy, regulatory compliance, corporate structure, real estate and transactional work.
• Lead and develop the in-house legal team; manage outside counsel with tight control of scope and spend.
• Oversee government affairs and bipartisan relationships with lawmakers and stakeholders.
• Ensure audit readiness and licensing compliance across markets and licenses.
• Oversee zoning, land use, labor/HR partnership, and litigation readiness with external counsel.
