Job summary

Guardian Life is seeking a Lead Specialist in General Audit to partner with the Head of Corporate Shared Services, Internal Audit. The role involves planning, executing, and reporting audits independently or with a team, focusing on high-quality assurance and advisory services that address complex business risks and controls.

The incumbent will mentor staff, coordinate with external auditors, monitor action plans, and contribute to governance and enterprise risk assessments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of broad-based experience in internal or external audit.
• Strong analytical skills to assess processes, data, risks and controls.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple audits.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence.
• Experience in the insurance/financial services sector is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute complex assurance projects per established standards.
• Demonstrate influencing skills to improve risk management.
• Collaborate with audit team to leverage skills and knowledge.
• Act as a mentor to junior auditors.
• Monitor outstanding recommendations and perform follow-up testing.
• Provide advisory services on projects and processes when requested.
• Support governance, compliance, investigations, and enterprise risk assessments.
• Coordinate with external auditors and Controls Assurance team as needed.
• Work with Audit leadership to improve departmental practices.
• Maintain compliance with policies and standards.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
• Participate in special projects as requested.
• Interact with management to provide risk and control advice.
