We are seeking a Senior Gas Storage Integrity Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of our natural gas salt cavern storage assets. Working closely with Operations, Business Services, contractors, and regulatory agencies, you will assess wellhead, wellbore, and cavern integrity; support storage projects; and use technical data to guide maintenance, capital investment, and risk-management decisions. Support storage integrity and capital projects involving salt cavern wellheads, wellbores, subsurface equipment, and cavern assets in collaboration with Operations, Business Services, contractors, and technical specialists. Evaluate proposed changes, upgrades, and repairs using data from wireline tools, casing inspections, mechanical integrity testing, well logs, and other integrity assessments. Assist with state and federal regulatory audits, including those conducted by the Railroad Commission of Texas, Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy, and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. Provide data-driven recommendations for operations and maintenance and capital work plans, including budget development, cost tracking, project planning, and records management. Prepare technical and regulatory reports related to underground natural gas storage, asset integrity, operating risks, and compliance requirements. Contribute to storage risk assessments, mitigation plans, safe work practices, and the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, a related engineering discipline. 6+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience in natural gas storage, exploration and production, or a closely related industry. Knowledgeable in API well-design standards, recommended practices, wellbore integrity programs, inspection methods, storage equipment, and applicable operations and maintenance requirements. Skilled in salt cavern storage operations, including well logging and analysis, petrophysical logs, mechanical integrity testing, wellhead changeouts, snubbing, workovers, and pipe-inspection logs. Proficient in U.S. state and federal oil, gas, and underground storage requirements, particularly those applicable to the Southeast region, with a strong commitment to well-site, cavern, personal, and team safety. Collaborative in managing consultants and service companies, solving complex technical issues, communicating across organizational levels, and using database, GIS, mapping, and log-analysis applications.
Work is performed in both office and field environments. Moderate travel (~30%) is required. Ability to travel and work throughout the United States. A valid driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required which will be validated before hire. Exposure to stressful situations requiring sound, timely decisions with limited or no direct supervision.
Grasping, kneeling, light to moderate lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, reaching above the shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirements including the ability to see screens, detect color coding, and read fine print, hearing requirements, and the ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
Both field and office requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions and other information; understand complex problems and collaboratively explore alternative solutions; organize thoughts and ideas using understandable terminology; organize and prioritize short-term work schedules; make decisions that have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor their impact outside that area; understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines; complete routine forms; compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports; and communicate with individuals by telephone.
Ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 USD for U.S. locations, based upon the candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity. Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
