Job summary

Canter Power Systems in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Lead Gas/Propane Installer to head the natural gas and LP fuel systems for standby generator installations. You will ensure safe, code-compliant work and supervise installation teams on residential and light-commercial projects.

The role requires hands-on gas installation experience, the ability to read plans, and strong communication with homeowners and trade partners. A valid driver’s license and state licenses for gas work are required.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands-on natural gas and/or propane installation experience.
• Experience installing fuel systems for standby generators is strongly preferred.
• State or local licenses and certifications required for natural gas or propane work; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead natural gas and propane work for standby generator installation projects.
• Install, modify, and connect natural gas and LP piping systems serving generators.
• Determine proper pipe sizing based on generator fuel demand and conditions.
• Install regulators, valves, fittings, supports, and other fuel-system components.
• Perform pressure and leak testing according to codes and company procedures.
• Inspect existing gas and propane systems and identify required modifications before installation.
• Coordinate with installers, electricians, managers, inspectors, and propane providers.
• Read and interpret installation plans, equipment specs, and manufacturer requirements.
• Ensure installations comply with fuel-gas codes and permitting requirements.
• Troubleshoot gas-pressure, regulator, fuel-supply issues in the field.
• Lead and train helpers and junior installers in safe techniques.
• Maintain organized vehicle, tools, materials, and jobsite.
• Complete job documentation and testing records; communicate with homeowners.
