Job summary

Type One Energy Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Integration Engineer in Knoxville, TN. You will ensure full integration of Fusion Island, BOP, facility, laboratory, prototyping, and testing systems into a cohesive, buildable plant, coordinating across engineering disciplines and external partners.

The role blends advanced technical leadership with planning, scheduling, and execution. You will drive interfaces, resolve design conflicts, oversee facilities planning, and mentor engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, Industrial).
• Ten or more years of experience in complex plant, facility, infrastructure, energy, or engineering development projects.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts and integrating multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of Fusion Island, Balance of Plant (BOP), facility, laboratory, prototyping, and testing systems into a cohesive, buildable, operable plant design.
• Manage interfaces between engineering disciplines, contractors, and external partners to align objectives and requirements.
• Resolve cross-functional design conflicts and risks while maintaining a controlled design baseline.
• Lead planning for facilities, laboratories, prototyping, and testing environments, including design criteria and scopes of work.
• Support site layout optimization, utility integration, equipment installation planning, and operational readiness.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and long-term planning.
• Support major design, construction, commissioning, startup, and turnover milestones; coordinate readiness activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and service providers to ensure safe, efficient delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff; champion engineering excellence, safety, and collaboration.
