Job summary

Abacus Group is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant for our Manhattan, NY office to manage accounting and administration for SMA portfolios.

You will reconcile NAVs, cash activity, and positions across multiple systems, collaborate with brokers and custodians, and review month-end reporting. The role also involves calculating fees, supporting audits, and contributing to system enhancements and finance transformations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hedge fund accounting experience.
• Experience with SMAs, investment portfolios, or alternative investment structures.
• Knowledge of NAV reconciliations and portfolio accounting.
• CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting and administration for a portfolio of separately managed investment vehicles
• Reconcile investment transactions, cash activity, and portfolio positions across multiple systems
• Collaborate with internal teams, brokers, custodians, and service providers to resolve transaction discrepancies
• Review month-end net asset value reporting prepared by third-party administrators
• Calculate management fees, incentive allocations, and other investment-related fee structures
• Compile year-end financial statements and tax support schedules
• Support external audits by coordinating with auditors and third-party service providers
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and operational procedures to improve efficiency
• Contribute to new product launches, system implementations, and finance transformation initiatives

Requirements

• 5+ years of hedge fund accounting experience
• Private experience preferred
• Experience with separately managed accounts (SMAs), investment portfolios, or alternative investment structures preferred
• Knowledge of investment transactions, net asset value (NAV) reconciliations, and portfolio accounting
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• CPA is a plus
