Spotify's Subscriptions Mission builds and scales products, platforms, and business models that convert free listeners into lifelong Premium subscribers. Beacon powers Quicksilver, the internal platform operators use to create, localize, target, and launch those messages.

We're looking for a Senior Engineer to help us build intuitive, reliable tools that power how Spotify communicates with listeners at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience building complex web apps with TypeScript and React.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, Apollo, and API contracts (gRPC, Protobuf, REST).
• Experience creating internal tools for operators.
• Comfort across frontend and backend systems, including Java services.
• Experience with cloud and data tools such as GCP, BigQuery.
• Ability to discuss technical debt and tradeoffs.
• Experience collaborating across shared codebases.
• Knowledge of data pipelines or server-side rendering.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Quicksilver UI and messaging platform components.
• Own frontend features end-to-end in React/TypeScript and server-side rendering.
• Collaborate across stack including Java services, gRPC, Protobuf, and REST contracts.
• Support multi-market localization workflows and smooth new-market launches.
• Partner with product and design to shape features based on operator needs.
• Improve developer experience with testing, build performance, and documentation.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction as the platform evolves.

Spotify's messaging platform reaches over 1.4 billion users and delivers tens of billions of messages across email, push, and in-app channels. Beacon is the team behind Quicksilver, the internal platform operators use to create, localize, target, and launch those messages. We're looking for a Senior Engineer to help us build intuitive, reliable tools that power how Spotify communicates with listeners at scale.

What You'll Do

• Build and evolve Quicksilver UI, Spotify's multi-channel messaging platform, where operators author, preview, and deliver in-app messages, emails, and push notifications across markets and locales.
• Own frontend features end-to-end, from component design and implementation in React and TypeScript through server-side creative rendering.
• Work across the stack when needed, including debugging Java and Apollo services, evolving gRPC, Protobuf, and REST API contracts, tracing data through BigQuery, and improving pipeline output.
• Support multi-market and localization workflows, helping creatives render reliably across locales and enabling smooth new‑market launches.
• Partner with product and design to shape features and improvements based on operator needs.
• Improve the developer experience through stronger testing infrastructure, build performance, component documentation, and integration tooling.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction as the platform evolves.

Who You Are

• You have experience building complex web applications with TypeScript and modern UI frameworks, including React or similar technologies.
• You understand state management, GraphQL and Apollo, component-scoped styling, and reusable component-library design.
• You have built tools or platforms for internal users and care about creating intuitive, reliable operator experiences.
• You are comfortable working across frontend and backend systems, including reading or modifying Java services and working with API contracts such as gRPC, Protobuf, or REST.
• You can work with Scala/Python when pipelines or APIs need attention and navigate cloud infrastructure and data tools such as GCP, GKE, BigQuery, or GCS.
• You make thoughtful decisions about technical debt and can clearly communicate the tradeoffs between maintaining, improving, and migrating systems.
• You have experience working across shared codebases and understand the collaboration needed when teams depend on common components and services.
• You may also bring experience with data pipelines, LLM applications such as RAG or vector search, or server-side rendering.

Where You'll Be

• We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North Americas region as long as we have a work location.
• This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.

The United States base range for this position is 164,448–234,926 USD, plus equity.
